Bejewelled!

Some of my personal decorations! :D

Gifts with Love

OK so I always seem to mentioning or talking about my Maitiú in some form or rather with out actually going into detail. He's my love, my rock, my best friend and life with him is better than I ever imagined it would be. Right, that's the mushy bit over. :)
Seen as our first anniversay is coming up soon I thought I'd show you the wonderful things he has bought me over the year. Not only things that I love, but introduced me to things wonderfully new (to me anyway). Suffice to say, I am very happy these days, very happy indeed.

These are like a portal back into my childhood! I never got to read the classics when I was younger but it doesn't matter- I feel just like a little girl again reading these Penguin Classics! Treasure Island, with Captain Flint, pieces of eight, Ben Gunn, the Hispaniola, gunpowder, rum, arrrr and yo ho ho-I was enthralled! :)

Pointed out these clock earrings one time and there I go-they end up on my ears a few months later! :) May have lost one though but I'm hopeful it'll show up somewhere soon.....

A cute little handmade money box that was bought in a cute little toy shop with handmade wooden toys. :) I think it might be a hint to save my money an stop spending it on so many clothes....! :)

Seaseme St. was my favourite childhood programme(que Bert, a birthday present when I was 2yrs in the background). I used to call it "Bert and Ernie" in fact so this t-shirt is definitely me! I like to call this photo "Jill-bert" ;)

Three things:

1) Sweets, sweets, sweets......
Found the cutest little sweet shop that sells all the original and best confectionary from the old days. Its aptly called "Sweet Memories" selling assortments of boiled sweets from bullseyes to acid drops, pineapple chunks to sherbert pips and also chocolate jazzies, fizzy jellies and creamy fudge.

2)Brown Leather Bargain....

Words cannot describe the elation a felt in coming accross this tan leather satchel for inly €6 in Oxfam and in perfect nick. Perfect for my trip to Rome in September! I'm sure Maitiú thought me a little insane being in complete awe and joy at the mere purchase of a bag!

3) Boot and Junk.....
3) Attended my first car boot sale ever on Sunday, my sister and I sister selling any of our old clothes and belongings we could find!

Black and Gold

My mother and I helped my sister get ready for her graduation ball the other day. She looked beautiful. She wore a black grecian style jersey dress with gold pattern-the same dress I wore for my graduation ball. I have worn the dress well since but I didn't however, accessorise at all right for my graduation occassion-I didn't ask for the right hairstyle, the beautician didn't do my make up as I wanted it, I didn't let my nails dry properly and my jewellery was cheap and tarnished looking-what a shame for it is no ordinary dress!
I was determined to make my sister look radiant. I gave her dramatic black liquid eyeliner flicks, flawless porcilan make up, and applied fake nails which I painted a classy black with floral pattern. My mother curled her hair and she borrowed my vintage gold evening bag, best gold earrings and snakeskin gladiator sandals.
The dress looked perfect this time.

Green Polka

I love that feeling of exhilaration when I've just bought a pair of new shoes. In the back of my mind I am thinking of all the outfits they will perfect, I am dreaming of the places I shall wear them when not wearing them, I feel confident and cute when I am wearing them and I feel clever, lucky and satisfied when all this warm fuzzy "new-shoe" feeling has only cost me €12! Aaah the power of shoes!

I now have a sizeable heel collection of the basic colours (yellow, black, white, red, green, pink)-I look forward to blogging the complete collection when I find the perfect pairs for the remaining colours! :) x

Nigerian Wedding

Last week I went to a Nigerian wedding with Maitiú-neighbours of his once upon a time. It was a sunny, warm, blustery day, I was wearing my long summer maxi and couldn't wait for the colourful, jubilant, musical occassion-I wasn't disappointed. The colours were vibrant, clothes, flowers, decoration, the music was loud and soulful, the hymns and prayers were passionate and sincere and the bride and groom were dancing and laughing with joy.

Hula Hula

The card and present I gave a close friend of mine for her birthday. As you can see it's kind of on a beachy theme as I think she's very much a summer gal! ;) I love making cards to suit people.

This card is sketched in 6B pencil, painted with yellow acryllic paint and decorated with half a cocktail umbrella and wire rose, stuck on using my trusty masking tape. It was kind of impossible to put it in an envelope! :D
