Update/Valentine's Day Wishes

I have discovered that the art of baking is incredibly soothing! I find myself looking out for cake stands and icing utensils and cute, colourful edible sprinkles to embellish my creations ever since my tea party fundraiser (which by the way, has surpassed all my expectations and has gone on to raise just over €400! Thank you all!) Finding a new hobby is the best way to get over a low period, is what I've been told and I can't help believe that it's true! Red velvet cupcakes, I have no idea how I've gone this long without knowing of your existence. Those and Instagram, my new social media of choice and I'm not even remotely ashamed at the constant flow of filtered-snaps I post on a daily basis!

StyleSnaps: Bargains and beauty spots

Sometimes I go a bit mad and let the € signs get the better of me. The cheaper the better. I love having a brag about how I got a beautiful item at the most ridiculous price. Most of the time these items get worn once and then live in the back of the wardrobe...

Starting the Shenanigans Early...

I doubt that nail art was ranked anywhere on St. Patrick's conquests, but sure-all in the spirit of Paddy's week!

Purple

There's something about purple that fills me with an "inbetween" feeling of Halloween/Christmas (if I may be so bold as to mention the C-word so soon) It has all the festivness of sweet wrappers and coloured baubles as well as the ominous, smokey hocus pocus of pagan ritual.

I found this dress when I was routing out my winter supply of "going-out" gear. I think it may have belonged to a cousin, not too sure how I came into possession of it, but I felt like getting in the spooky spirit of things nonetheless. Added a chiffon underskirt and sequence belt for the party look.

Something Accquired

Not only have I benefitted from that time of year when I press the refresh button on my wardrobe for a new season, but I've acquired the cast offs of my aunt's wardrobe as well! Which is almost as good as the feeling of having bought a new item of clothing-no price tag and I like the challenge of adapting something to my own taste.

Not sure about the peaking mid-drift. I shall have to think on it before I wear this in a public place (because of the cold if nothing else!)
Thinking of doing up a poll for "Best Skirt"...have to come up with a better title first!

Flo & Snow

Sketch of Florence Welch by Amy Mc Mahon(sister)
Ireland does not lend itself to pretty concert clothes come festival time. They can hold all the summer concerts they want-it's a rare occassion that the weather will oblige the avid concert goer. Luckily, the Irish weather has equipped us with an inherent trait-being prepared. For all eventualities!

My sister and brothers were ever so kind to present me with three tickets to the Phoenix Park gig for my birthday, with such headliners as Florence + the Machine and Snowpatrol. I, on many an occassion, have been likened to the fiery Florence herself and Snowpatrol were my all time favourite band when I was 15. Weather forcast-bleak. Mud-most definitely. Day ruined? No chance, a little dull weather would never dampen my spirits.

Light garments such as a summer dress and tights kept me cool while layers such as cardigan and floral scarf equipped me for night time chills (We really go all out for concerts, hardcore and hopping til the very last note!)
Dress-€5, H&M; Belt-€5; Sunglasses-Present

Of course rain jacket and wellington boots finish any Irish festival attire and just for fun and maybe just for a little colour in the dull July weather, bright clashing prints, jewellery and sunnies almost made me forget the damp and cold. Throw in a packet pasta lunch and really one can't go wrong ;)

January Blues...in a good way!

So they say January is the time we should hit the "sale rails" to get some brialliant bargains. It's not that I don't agree with this type of thinking, it's just that I get bargains all year around I don;t feel the impulse. Impulse buys are my downfall if the truth be told and there begins New Year's Resolution No 1.....Stop buying things that I don't need-stop buying anything at all infact, as if I was to be completely honest with myself I want for nothing in the line of clothes! So what does a thrifty girl do to satisfy her clothing cravings, accessory addiction and footwear fetish? Clothes swaps ;) Free and fabulous. And a perfect way to beat the January blues of being broke after the festive season.
Here I'm wearing a cute cream blouse with some duck-egg blue beads-everything else I had already but somehow I've a whole new outfit :) Oh and the hair is an experiment-to be seen in a future blogpost....

Winter in Warsaw

I recently went to Poland to visit my best friend who is studying there for a few months. There's nothing nicer than a sunny day with blue skys where its icey cold and the air is crisp. I tried to match my clothes with icey and baby blue shades, broken up with pinks and reds. I don't ever feel the need to go black, brown, navy or grey once winter sets in!
It was nice to get in touch with the things that matter again; just having fun with a friend for the sake of fun. College and life was beginning to get a little heavy. Shopping, walks in the park, coffee breaks, make-up, more coffee, good food, hair dos, cocktails-They were a sure way to make sure that I came home feeling de-stressed and ready for the Christmas season :)
My beautiful best friend and I had much fun with a little photo shoot of our own.
